A selfie at WTC Memorial

NYC is called and known to many the Center of the World, or the Big Apple for many reasons. To find out on our own, we had to go there and learn why so many love this place. Here is what we did and what we learned from our experience.

Times Square NYC

After years of thinking about the best time to visit New York City, we opted to wait for Christmas time. The opportunity would provide us with the experience to join the holiday’s activities and mood in town. Although our visit would be short, we had a few plans in mind during our stay. In our opinion, these are the top 5 reasons why you should plan to go there.

Christmas Epicenter

As you walk the streets of New York City in December, you can feel and literally smell the Christmas spirit. The weather, the decorations are some of the many signs of a lifetime experience. Without a doubt, you will enjoy the environment the city has to offer. Make sure you take a walk in the evening around Time Square to get the full Christmas experience in NYC.

Shop Until you Drop

New York City is known to be one of the best places to shop anytime during the year. During the month of December shopping for Christmas gifts can be an amazing experience. If your budget is huge or small, shopping in NYC has it all for everyone. And just by telling your friends that you shopped for gifts in the Big Apple is a news in itself. For us this was not the case, but mostly for sightseeing and window shopping which we enjoyed very much.

So much to Sightsee

Besides shopping and the Christmas experience, you can visit NYC anytime during the year for much different reasons. One of them can be just for sightseeing. Going to New York to take pictures and to visit interesting and beautiful places can be a great reason. We promise, you will still have a great time.

In NYC we visited the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the 9/11 Memorial Museum and much more. We tried to visit the Statue of Liberty, but when we arrived the lines were huge. As you may otherwise think, you don’t need a huge budget to visit NYC. There are many places things to do without spending a fortune.

Listening to a variety of languages as you walk the streets of New York can be a delighting scene. We surely enjoyed it. Spanish, English, Italian, Mandarin, and Arabic are some of the many you will constantly be around if you pay attention. Check out the following from the city’s official guide www.nycgo.com.

You Will Never go Hungry

New York City is the home to 73 Michelin Star restaurants. If you have the means and your taste buds are high maintenance, this city is for you. If you are on a budget, you can eat for cheap. We did and enjoyed eating at one of the many $ 1.00 per slice pizza joints nearby Times Square. It was super delicious and needless to mention, a very popular option among many locals and visitors.

Without spending a lot of money, in NYC you can eat food from many countries around the world. We did that on our visit to Chinatown and Little Italy. For a detailed list of restaurants and best food options, visit the Official Guide of NYC. We know for a fact that our visit only scratched the surface of NYC. We will definitely return in the future to explore more.

Keep traveling, keep learning!
